Baked Meringue - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 egg whites
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. vanilla or almond extract
Preparation
    Beat egg whites, cream of tartar, salt and baking powder 10 minutes or until stiff.
    Add sugar 1 tablespoon at a time, at slower beater rate.
    Add vinegar.
    Beat 10 to 15 minutes longer. Add extract at the end of beating time.
    Bake in a 9 x 12-inch pan, greased on the bottom only.
    Preheat oven to 400\u00b0.
    Place pan in oven.
    Turn off oven.
    Do not open door until cool, at least 3 hours.
