Maraschino Party Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 1/4 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
1/2 c. milk
1 1/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. maraschino cherry juice
1/2 to 3/4 c. egg whites (about 4 large eggs)
16 maraschino cherries, drained and cut
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Preparation

Place first 7 ingredients in mixing bowl and beat with electric mixer 2 minutes.
Add egg whites.
Beat 2 minutes more. Stir in cherries and nuts.
Bake at 350\u00b0.
