Old-Fashioned Pound Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    1/2 c. shortening
    3 c. sugar
    5 eggs
    3 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    dash of salt
    1 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream butter and shortening.
    Gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy.
    Add eggs, one at a time.
    Combine flour and baking powder.
    Add to mixture alternating with milk.
    Stir in vanilla.
    Bake in a tube pan or long loaf pan at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
    (It is very important to start cake in a cold oven.)
    Cool 10 minutes, then turn out on cake plate.
