Poached Pears In White Wine - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 lb. fresh, ripe, unblemished Bartlett pears
    2 c. dry white wine
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 lemon, peeled finely and cut peel into tiny strips
    1 (2-inch length) cinnamon stick
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 c. orange marmalade
    1/4 c. apricot preserves
Preparation
    Peel pears, core and cut into eighths.
    Place in pan with wine, sugar and lemon strips.
    Simmer all for 5 to 10 minutes until pears are tender but not really soft.
