Gumdrop Cake(Good To Mail. Good At Christmas.) - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. white raisins
1 lb. gumdrops
1 c. pecans
4 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. butter or shortening
2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. applesauce
1 tsp. soda, dissolved in 1 tsp. hot water
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
Preparation

Sift dry ingredients.
Use part to dredge raisins, gumdrops and nuts.
Use scissors to cut raisins and gumdrops.
Cream the shortening and sugar.
Add well beaten eggs.
Add alternately portions of dry ingredients and applesauce to creamed mixture. Stir in soda and vanilla, then gumdrops, raisins and nuts.
Pour into 2 or 3 loaf pans, lined with paper.
Bake for 2 hours, very slowly (300\u00b0 oven).
