Apricot Filled Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. dried apricots, diced (about 6 oz.)
    1 c. crushed pineapple
    1/2 c. sugar
    3/4 c. butter
    1 c. sugar
    2 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 c. finely chopped nuts
    1 1/2 c. flaked coconut
Preparation
    Place apricots and undrained pineapple in saucepan.
    Cover and simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    Mix in 1/2 cup sugar and simmer 5 minutes longer; cool.
