Vegetable Soup Of Trieste - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    10 oz. dried white beans
    2 bay leaves
    1/4 c. extra virgin olive oil
    1 Tbsp. flour
    2/3 c. cornmeal
    3 oz. bacon fat or salt pork
    8 c. water
    2 garlic cloves
    1 lb. cabbage, chopped
    salt and pepper
Preparation
    Soak the beans in cold water to cover for 12 hours.
    Drain and place in a saucepan with bacon fat and bay leaves.
    Add the water and simmer for 1 hour.
