Ingredients

2/3 c. granulated sugar
4 eggs, well beaten
2 large cans evaporated milk
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
dash of salt
Preparation

Heat sugar in a heavy skillet, stirring constantly, until sugar melts and turns golden brown.
Quickly remove from heat and pour into a round cake pan (tip pan to distribute evenly).
Let cool.
Preheat oven to 350\u00b0 and make custard by mixing eggs, evaporated milk, 1 cup sugar, vanilla and salt. Pour over caramel in pan and bake, standing in pan of hot water for 60 minutes, or until knife inserted in custard comes out clean.
Turn out onto flat dessert plate with rim when cooled.
