Ingredients

2 lb. cubed lean beef
2 Tbsp. shortening
3 1/2 c. water
1 medium onion, sliced
1 Tbsp. salt
1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
6 medium potatoes, cubed
4 medium carrots, sliced 1/4-inch thick
2 medium onions, cut into eighths
1 c. ketchup
1/2 c. dry red wine
1 pkg. frozen peas
Preparation

Wine may be eliminated; increase water to 4 cups.
