Red Cabbage(Rodkaal) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 Tbsp. shortening
    6 c. shredded red cabbage (1 medium head)
    sugar to taste
    2 c. apple slices
    1 c. minced onion
    1/3 c. white vinegar
    1 c. water
    1 tsp. salt
    1 whole can cranberry sauce
Preparation
    Melt shortening in heavy skillet.
    Add cabbage and remaining ingredients.
    Cover and simmer 1 to 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
    Delicious with pork roast.
    Serves 6.
