Aunt Bills Brown Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 pints sugar
    1 pint milk
    1/2 pound margarine
    1/4 teaspoon soda
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    2 cups chopped pecans
Preparation
    Pour 1 pint sugar in heavy iron skillet and place over low heat.
    Begin stirring with a wooden spoon and keep sugar moving so it will not scorch.
    It will take almost a half hour to completely melt this sugar and at no time let it smoke or cook so fast that it turns dark, it should be about the color of light brown sugar.
