Ingredients

2 c. butter (1 lb.)
1 1/4 c. sugar
egg
4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cream butter, sugar and egg until light and fluffy.
Add flour, salt and vanilla; mix well.
Form into small balls, then flatten slightly with a fork.
Can put colored sugar on.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 13 minutes.
Makes about 8 dozen small cookies that taste like shortbread.
