Chinese Pepper Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    1 1/2 lb. sirloin or other steak, cut in 1/4 x 3-inch strips
    1 large onion, sliced
    1 clove garlic, minced
    2 Tbsp. soy sauce
    15 oz. can tomato sauce
    16 oz. can stewed tomatoes
    4 Tbsp. sugar
    1 large green pepper, sliced
    1 c. celery, sliced in 1/4-inch pieces
    1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced
    1/4 c. sherry
    3 Tbsp. cornstarch
    hot cooked rice
Preparation
    In large deep skillet, brown steak strips in vegetable oil over medium heat 3 minutes.
    Add onion and garlic; stir-fry 3 to 4 minutes.
    Add soy sauce, tomato sauce, stewed tomatoes and sugar. Heat to boiling, stirring often to dissolve sugar.
    Add green pepper strips and celery and heat through.
    Mix cornstarch with sherry until smooth.
    Add to skillet; bring back to a low boil, stirring until sauce is thickened and translucent.
    Stir in mushrooms.
    Serve over rice.
