Ingredients

3/4 c. butter or shortening
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. molasses
1 egg
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Cream together butter, sugar, molasses and egg.
Add rest of ingredients.
Chill for an hour.
Roll into balls.
Roll each in granulated sugar.
Bake in 375\u00b0 oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
