Clams Steamed In Sherry - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    36 fresh clams
    1 c. dry sherry
    water
    1 onion, coarsely chopped
    freshly ground white pepper to taste
Preparation
    Bring sherry and enough water to cover clams to boiling.
    Add clams and be sure that there is enough liquid to cover them.
    Add onion and pepper.
    Cover and steam clams until clams open up.
