Eggless Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
2 c. water
1 box raisins
1/2 lb. dates
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cloves
4 c. (scant) sifted flour
chopped nuts, if desired

Preparation

Cook sugar, shortening, water, raisins and dates until it boils.
After this cools, add sifted dry ingredients.
Bake in a 9 x 13-inch pan for 1 1/2 hours at 300\u00b0.
