Date Pinwheels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 egg
    salt
    1 3/4 tsp. soda
    1 3/4 c. flour (not sifted)
Preparation
    Mix all of the ingredients until smooth.
    Roll out to 3/16-inch thick and spread with date filling.
    Roll as for a jelly roll.
    Refrigerate overnight; slice and bake at 400\u00b0 until golden brown, approximately 8 to 10 minutes.
