Ingredients

4 to 6 lb. cucumbers
2 to 4 lb. onions
1/2 c. canning salt
3 c. vinegar
2 Tbsp. mustard seed
2 tsp. turmeric
2 tsp. celery seed
1 tsp. ginger
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. peppercorns
Preparation

Slice cucumbers and onions thin.
Layer cucumbers and onions with a handful of salt on each layer in old-time crock.
Mash down.
Cover with ice; let stand 4 hours.
Drain and rinse.
Mix remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
Add drained cucumbers and onions and return to a boil.
Pack in hot jars and seal.
