Never Fail Scones - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 egg
    1 1/2 tsp. sugar
    3/4 to 1 c. milk
    1 Tbsp. melted butter
    2 c. self-rising flour (2 c. all-purpose flour plus 4 tsp. baking powder)
    pinch of salt
Preparation
    Beat together egg and sugar.
    Add 3/4 cup milk and butter. Stir together flour and salt.
    Make a well in center and add egg-milk mixture.
    Add up to 1/4 cup more milk, if needed, to make a soft dough.
    Turn out of bowl onto well-floured board and pat flat to about 3/4-inch thickness.
    Using a 1 1/2-inch cutter, cut and place close together on a floured (not greased) baking sheet. Bake at 500\u00b0 about 10 minutes.
    Makes 15 to 18.
