Smothered Hamburger Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. ground beef
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/4 c. dry bread crumbs
    4 medium onions, cut in 1 1/4-inch slices
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. water
    1 tsp. hot salad oil
    1 (10 1/4 oz.) can beef gravy
Preparation
    Combine the ground beef, salt, pepper, water and bread crumbs; mix well.
    Shape into six patties.
    Brown in oil on one side, turn and top with onion and gravy.
    Cover and simmer 30 minutes.
