Gingerbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 stick (1/2 c.) butter
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 egg, beaten
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. molasses (do not use blackstrap molasses)
1 c. hot water
Preparation

Cream butter real well.
Add sugar and cream.
Add beaten egg. Measure and sift dry ingredients.
Set aside.
Combine molasses and hot water.
Add dry ingredients to first mixture alternately with liquid, a small amount at a time, and beat after each addition until smooth.
