Pennsylvania Red Cabbage - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 Tbsp. salad oil
4 c. shredded red cabbage
2 c. cubed, unpared apples (2 medium)
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. vinegar
1/4 c. water
1 1/4 tsp. salt
1 onion
dash of pepper
ground cloves to taste or 4 to 6 whole (optional)
1 bay leaf (remove before serving)
1 Tbsp. flour
Preparation

Heat oil in a large pan. Add remaining ingredients. Cover tightly. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally. For crisp cabbage, cook 15 minutes. For old fashioned, cook 25 to 30 minutes. Sprinkle with flour and blend.
Good hot or cold.
