Easy Breakfast Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    12 slices bread
    butter, softened
    2 c. Cheddar cheese
    1 c. onion (optional)
    2 c. cooked sausage or ham chunks
    6 eggs
    3 c. milk
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Butter bread slices on both sides.
    Place 6 slices in bottom of a 9 x 13-inch pan. Cover with layers of cheese, meat and onion. Top with remaining 6 slices of bread. Beat eggs.
    Mix in milk, salt and pepper.
    Pour over mixture in pan.
    Cover and refrigerate overnight (or all day).
    Bake, uncovered, at 350\u00b0 for 50 minutes.
