Century Old Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. ginger
    1 egg
    2 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. molasses
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. hot water
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar together.
    Add eggs and molasses. Sift dry ingredients together and mix.
    Add hot water last and beat until smooth.
    Bake in shallow pan for 45 minutes at 350\u00b0. Serve with thin sugar frosting.
