Cucumber Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 qt. white vinegar
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 tsp. whole cloves
    4 1/2 lb. sugar
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. mixed pickling spice
    7 lb. cucumbers (pickling)
    2 c. pickling lime
Preparation
    Cut lengthwise, like French fries, large cucumbers and remove seeds.
    If pickles are smaller, slice or do in strips.
    Note: Larger cucumbers are the best.
    In plastic bowl, cover cucumbers with water.
    Add 2 cups pickling lime.
    Cover with towel.
    Soak for 24 hours.
    Rinse several times.
    Cover with cold water.
    Soak for 3 more hours.
    Drain water and pour ingredients into pot (cloves, celery seed, pickle spice are best put in cheesecloth and added to pot).
    Cook for 35 minutes (medium heat; just to boiling).
    Pour into jars, add lids, turn upside down for best sealing results.
