Mother'S Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    1 c. butter
    2 c. sugar
    2 eggs, well beaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. cream of tartar
    1 tsp. salt
    4 c. sifted flour
Preparation
    Blend shortening, butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla.
    Sift together in separate bowl the soda, cream of tartar, salt and flour.
    Slowly beat dry ingredients into shortening mixture until well blended and texture is creamy.
    Drop by 1 teaspoonful on greased cookie sheet.
    Press cookie dough with a fork dipped in cold water.
    Add sprinkles if desired.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
