Ingredients

1 c. light brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
4 eggs
1/2 fruit glass sherry
3 tsp. soda, dissolved in 3 Tbsp. milk
1 lb. dates, chopped
1 1/2 lb. pecans, chopped
1 1/2 c. white raisins
1 lb. candied cherries
1 lb. candied pineapple (red and green)
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
3 c. sifted plain flour (mix 1 c. of this with fruits and nuts)
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar.
Add sherry and the milk in which soda has soaked.
Add well beaten egg yolks and then 2 cups of the flour.
Mix in the flour-coated nuts and fruits.
Fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites.
This is very stiff so you might as well mix with your hands.
Drop by teaspoonfuls on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 300\u00b0 for 20 minutes.
Makes lots.
