French Toast Casserole - cooking recipe

1 large Italian loaf (1 lb.) or round sourdough bread
12 eggs
3 c. milk
1 c. sugar
4 Tbsp. vanilla
3 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. maple syrup
Preparation

Cut loaf into 1-inch cubes. Place into sprayed 9 x 12 baking dish. Whisk eggs in a bowl. Add sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and syrup; whisk again. Add milk and whisk again. Cover bread with chosen fruit (optional).
Pour egg mixture over the bread cubes and fruit (if used). Be sure to cover ALL pieces. Allow to soak overnight. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve with warm syrup.
