Ingredients

1 c. butter (2 sticks)
1 1/2 c. sifted confectioners sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation

Cream butter.
Add sugar gradually and cream until fluffy. Add unbeaten egg and vanilla; beat well.
Sift together dry ingredients.
Blend into creamed mixture.
Chill dough.
Roll on well-floured board; cut with cookie cutters.
Bake on ungreased cookie sheets at 400\u00b0 for 6 minutes.
