Gingerbread - cooking recipe

1/2 c. shortening
1/4 c. packed brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. light molasses
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp. ground ginger
3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. boiling water
Preparation

Grease and lightly flour a 9 x 1 1/2-inch round baking pan. Cream shortening and brown sugar until light.
Add egg and molasses; beat well.
Stir together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Add to creamed mixture alternately with the 1/2 cup boiling water, beating after each addition.
Pour into pan.
Bake in 350\u00b0 oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
