Icicle Cucumber Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

7 lb. cucumbers
1 c. Mrs. Wages pickling lime
2 gal. water
8 c. distilled white vinegar (5% acidity)
8 c. sugar
1 Tbsp. salt
2 tsp. mixed pickling spices
1/2 tsp. whole cloves
Preparation

Peel and slice cucumbers into 1/2-inch strips. Soak in water and lime mixture in crockery or enamel ware for 12 hours or overnight. Do not use aluminum pan. Stir gently in lime water to keep lime from settling in bottom. Remove from lime water; discard water. Rinse 3 times in fresh cold water until water is clear. Soak 3 hours in fresh ice water. Keep adding ice cubes to keep water cold or place in refrigerator.
