Swedish Coffee Braid - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 pkg. dry yeast
1/4 c. warm water
1 c. milk, scalded
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. softened butter
1 tsp. salt
5 1/4 c. all-purpose flour, divided
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. ground cardamom
1 slightly beaten egg white
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1/4 tsp. ground cardamom
Preparation

Sprinkle dry yeast into warm water.
Combine milk, 1/2 cup sugar, butter and salt; stir until butter is melted and sugar is dissolved.
Cool mixture until warm.
Stir in 2 cups flour.
Add softened yeast, egg yolk and 1 teaspoon cardamom; beat hard.
Stir in 3 cups flour (remaining flour is used as necessary for kneading dough).
Turn dough out on lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic (8 to 10 minutes).
Shape into ball; place in lightly greased bowl, turning once to grease surface.
