Red Devil'S Food Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs, separated
2 1/2 c. sifted cake flour
1/2 c. cocoa (regular type, dry)
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. cold water
Preparation

Preheat oven at 350\u00b0.
Cream the shortening and 1 cup of sugar until light. Add vanilla and egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each.
Sift together dry ingredients.
Add to creamed mixture alternating with cold water, beating after each addition. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form.
Gradually add 3/4 cup sugar, beating until stiff peaks form. Fold into batter; blend well.
Bake in 2 greased and lightly floured 8 x 1 1/2-inch round pans at 350\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
