Blackberry Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. grated Cheddar cheese
    1 Tbsp. brown sugar
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    1/2 c. milk
    1 c. blackberry jam
Preparation
    Grease 8-inch square pan.
    Sift all dry ingredients in a bowl. Cut in cheese, sugar and butter with a pastry blender.
    Take out 3/4 cup crumbs and set aside.
    Add milk to remaining crumbs; stir and press into pan.
    Spread layer of jam and sprinkle 3/4 cup crumbs on top.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
    For different taste, try 1/2 cup raspberry jam and 1/2 cup strawberry jam in place of blackberry jam.
