Aristocrat Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    36 cucumber pickles (5-inch long)
    1 gal. water
    1 c. salt
    1 Tbsp. alum
    1 Tbsp. ginger
    3 lb. white sugar
    1 gal. vinegar
    1 pt. water (or more)
    1 spice bag with 1 Tbsp. celery salt, 1 Tbsp. whole cloves, 1 tsp. salt and 2 sticks cinnamon
Preparation
    Slice cucumbers thin.
    Make cool brine of water and salt. Pour over cucumbers and let stand 1 week.
    Stir every morning. Drain pickles and cover with cold water (just to cover) mixed with alum.
    Simmer 10 minutes, then drain.
