Pie Meringue(Large Recipe) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    16 egg whites
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 lb. sugar (granulated)
Preparation
    Mix egg whites and salt; whip past frothy stage, approximately 1 1/2 minutes (high speed).
    Add sugar gradually while beating. Beat until the sugar has dissolved.
    The meringue should be stiff enough to hold peaks but not dry.
    Spread on pie to edge of crust. Bake approximately 12 minutes at 375\u00b0.
    Yield:
    Meringue for 8 (8-inch) pies.
