Orange-Almond Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour or 1 1/2 c. cake flour
    1 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. milk
    1/3 c. shortening
    1 egg
    2 tsp. grated orange peel
    1/4 c. sliced almonds
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    2 Tbsp. orange-flavored liqueur (I use orange extract)
Preparation
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease and flour round layer pan, 9 x 1 1/2-inch or square pan, 8 x 8 x 2-inch or 9 x 9 x 2-inch.
    Beat all ingredients, except almonds, 1 tablespoon sugar and the liqueur, in large mixer bowl on low speed, scraping bowl constantly, 30 seconds.
    Beat on high speed, scraping bowl occasionally, 3 minutes.
    Pour into pan.
    Sprinkle with almonds.
