Broccoli Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 gal. water
    1/2 c. chopped carrots
    1/2 c. chopped onions
    1/4 c. chopped celery
    1/4 lb. butter, melted
    3 t. flour
    1 t. black pepper
    1 lb. American or cheddar cheese
    1 lb. chopped broccoli
    1 pt. half-and-half
    1 qt. milk
Preparation
    Bring water, carrots, celery, and onions to a boil.
    Mix melted butter and flour until smooth.
    Stir into boiling mixture, then add pepper and cheese.
    Stir until cheese has melted.
    Then add the broccoli.
    After boiling for 2 minutes, add the milk and half-and-half.
