Arkansas Fried Okra - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    10 to 12 large okra, sliced
    2 medium potatoes, cubed
    1 medium onion, chopped
    2 medium bell peppers, chopped
    1 long green hot pepper, sliced
    1 tsp. salt
    pepper to taste
    3 Tbsp. white corn meal
    1 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
    6 Tbsp. shortening
Preparation
    Put the first 5 of these ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, corn meal and flour; mix well.
    In cast-iron skillet, heat shortening.
    Pour okra mixture into hot grease.
    Cover and cook on medium heat until tender.
    Stir at intervals to avoid sticking and burning.
    Serve hot.
