Thumbprints - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. soft butter
    1/4 c. brown sugar
    1 egg, separated
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. sifted plain flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Cream
    shortening
    and sugar.
    Add egg yolk and vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients.
    Roll into one inch balls.\tDip in slightly beaten egg white.\tRoll in finely chopped nuts.
    Place one
    inch
    apart on ungreased baking sheet and press thumb into center of
    each.
    Bake
    at\t375\u00b0
    for 10 to 12 minutes or until set.
    Cool!
    Place jelly in thumbprint.
