Beef In Beer - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. stew beef (1-inch cubes)
    8 oz. diced bacon
    2 large sliced onions
    1 or 2 chopped leeks (including some of the green part)
    1 pt. beer
    flour, salt, pepper and mixed salad herbs
    1 lb. chopped carrots
    chopped parsley (optional)
Preparation
    Fry bacon pieces in large pan.
    Leave bacon in pan.
    Add beef and brown in bacon drippings.
    Add onion and leeks and lightly brown.
    Stir in a little flour.
    Add beer, stirring constantly. If necessary, add water to cover meat.
    Season with salt, pepper and mixed salad herbs.
    Add carrots and bring to a boil.
    Simmer gently for 2 1/2 hours or until beef is tender.
    (Can be cooked in a moderate oven, 350\u00b0, in covered dish for 2 1/2 hours.)
    Serve with mashed potatoes or noodles.
    Sprinkle with chopped parsley (optional).
