Baked Alaska - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. all-purpose flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 egg
    1 qt. ice cream (brick)
    2/3 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
Preparation
    Grease and flour 9-inch pan.
    Sift flour with sugar, baking powder and salt into mixing bowl.
    Add shortening and milk.
    Beat 1 1/2 minutes at low speed with mixer or 225 strokes with a spoon. Add egg and vanilla extract.
    Beat 1 1/2 minutes more.
    Pour into pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes, until cake springs back when lightly touched in center.
