Grandma'S Tea Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
4 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. buttermilk
1 to 1 1/4 Tbsp. almond extract
Preparation

Cream shortening; add sugar gradually, beating well at medium speed with electric mixer.
Add eggs one at a time, beating after each one.
Combine flour, baking powder, soda and salt.
Add to cream mixture with buttermilk.
Mix well.
Stir in extract; cover and chill 1 hour.
Roll dough on a floured surface.
Cut with a 2 1/2-inch cookie cutter.
Place on greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 minutes or until edges turn brown.
Yields 4 dozen.
