Mushroom Surprise - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 to 1 lb. fresh mushrooms
butter
3 slices white bread
1/2 c. each: chopped celery, onion, green pepper and mayonnaise
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 more slices bread
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. milk
1 can mushroom soup
grated yellow cheese
Preparation

Saute mushrooms, coarsely sliced, in butter, just enough to smell like mushrooms.
Butter 3 slices white bread, cut in 1-inch squares and line casserole.
Combine mushrooms with 1/2 cup each: chopped celery, onion, green pepper and mayonnaise, 3/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper and 3 more slices of buttered bread. Pour eggs, slightly beaten with milk.
Refrigerate 1 hour or overnight.
One hour before serving, spoon a can of undiluted mushroom soup over it.
Bake at 300\u00b0 for 60 to 70 minutes or at 325\u00b0 for 50 to 60 minutes.
About 10 minutes before it's done, sprinkle grated yellow cheese on top.
