Apple Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. plain flour
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 large can crushed pineapple
    1/2 stick oleo
    4 large apples
    1 c. light Cool Whip
    1 c. pecans, chopped
Preparation
    Combine flour, sugar and pineapple (juice included) in top of double boiler.
    Cook until thickened.
    Add oleo; stir and let cool.
    Peel and cut up apples.
    Combine with cooled pineapple mixture.
    Pour in bowl.
    Spread with Cool Whip.
    Sprinkle with nuts.
    Cherries are optional.
