Picadillo(Soup From The Philippines) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. ground beef (chuck)
    1 glove garlic, minced
    1 medium onion, thin sliced
    2 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
    1 medium tomato, thinly sliced
    1 Tbsp. patis (optional)
    1 tsp. salt
    ground pepper
    5 c. water
    1/2 tsp. m.s.g.
    1 Tbsp. oil
    1/2 tsp. sugar
Preparation
    In medium saucepan heat oil.
    Brown garlic in hot oil, add onions and tomatoes, saute until tomatoes are mushy.
    Add ground beef and saute until brown.
    Season with patis, salt, pepper, sugar and m.s.g.
    Add water and bring to a boil.
    Add potatoes. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
    Serve hot.
    Serves 5 to 6.
