Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/4 c. water
    2 Tbsp. butter
    2 tsp. soda
    1 c. white Karo
    1 1/2 c. raw peanuts
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    In 3-quart saucepan, combine sugar, syrup, salt and water. Mix well.
    Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved.
    Cook to 285\u00b0, stirring frequently.
    Add peanuts and continue cooking until thermometer reaches 295\u00b0.
    Remove from heat.
    Add vanilla and soda.
    Mix well.
    Work fast.
    Pour into 2 greased pans.
    Spread quickly as thin as possible for extra brittleness.
