Apricot Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    3/4 c. oleo
    1 large egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. and 2 Tbsp. flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. chopped coconut
    1/2 c. walnuts (optional)
    1 (1 lb. jar) apricot jam
Preparation
    Cream oleo and sugar.
    Add egg and vanilla.
    Sift flour, baking powder and salt.
    Add to creamed mixture.
    Add coconut and walnuts.
    Spread 2/3 of the dough in a 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Pat with the hand to spread evenly.
