Coconut Cream Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    2 c. milk
    3 egg yolks, beaten
    3 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/4 c. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. flaked coconut
    1/4 tsp. salt
    9-inch pie shell, baked
    1 c. heavy cream
Preparation
    Heat sugar and milk in a 1 quart saucepan over medium heat. Blend egg yolks and cornstarch.
    Add small amount of hot milk to yolk mixture.
    Mix well and return to the hot milk.
    Boil until thick, about 3 minutes.
    Remove from heat; add butter, vanilla, coconut and salt.
    Stir until butter melts.
    Cool.
    Pour mixture into pie shell.
    Whip and sweeten cream; spread over pie.
    Garnish with grated coconut.
    Serve chilled.
    Makes 8 servings.
