Texas Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 lb. beef stew meat, cut into 1-inch cubes
    1 to 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
    1/4 c. chopped onion
    1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 c. water
    1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes with liquid, cut up
    1 tsp. ground cumin
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    In a large skillet or Dutch oven, brown beef, adding oil.
    If desired, drain.
    Add onion, garlic powder, pepper and water; bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat, cover and simmer 45 minutes or until meat is tender.
    Add tomatoes and cumin.
    Reduce heat and cook until done.
    Makes 1 quart, 4 servings.
